 Jaguar ha presentado una versión del XKR totalmente modificada para poder correr el campeonato Europeo FIA GT3. Cuenta con un motor de más de 475 CV y una estética completamente deportiva. Jaguar ha presentado en el Salón Internacional de Birmingham el diseño definitivo de su modelo XKR GT3 que competirá en el Campeonato Europeo FIA GT3. Este Salón está considerado por los especialistas como el más importante del mundo en cuanto a ferias dedicadas al deporte del motor y la competición y, por eso, la firma inglesa ha elegido esta muestra para presentar este coche. El XKR GT3 equipa un motor V8 sobrealimentado de 4.2 litros de cubicaje que rinde una potencia de más de 475 CV. Conserva la carrocería de aluminio de su homólogo de calle pero ha sido objeto de las modificaciones que exige el reglamento para esta competición. Las especificaciones técnicas preliminares de este coche se han hecho públicas, pero habrá que esperar a las pruebas oficiales en las pistas de la FIA, que se celebrarán los días 22 y 23 de febrero en Monza, para conocer las definitivas. Este Jaguar de competición cuenta con una caja de cambios secuencial de seis velocidades y un embrague de triple disco de carbono de 140 milímetros. Además, cuenta con una dirección asistida electrohidráulica. Por otra parte, este coche monta también unos frenos que se componen de dos pinzas delanteras de 6 pistones sobre discos de 375mm y otras dos pinzas traseras de 4 pistones sobre discos de 330mm. Su carrocería está realizada totalmente en aluminio y el habitáculo cuenta con una jaula de acero integrada para la protección del piloto. Cuenta, además, con una longitud de 4.990 milímetros, una anchura de 1.892 milímetros y una batalla de 2.752 milímetros. Incluye también unas llantas deportivas "OZ Racing" de 18 pulgadas y unos neumáticos delanteros y traseros de competición "Michelin" de 11 pulgadas. Un campeonato que ha creado una gran espectación El Campeonato Europeo FIA GT3 se ha convertido en un acontecimiento imprescindible para escuderías y fabricantes. La temporada pasada tuvo un gran interés entre los competidores y los seguidores. Hoy aspira a consolidarse incluso más con la incorporación de Jaguar a la parrilla de salida. Este Campeonato incluye cinco rondas y comenzará en el mes de mayo en Silverstone, desde donde viajará a Bucarest, después Monza, Brno, y concluirá en Dubai en el mes de noviembre.
