 La semana que viene se comnercializarán las primeras unidades del nuevo Jeep Wrangler . Descediente directo del Willys , realizado por encargo del ejército estadounidense tras la II Guerra Mundial , el Wrangler es un todoterreno auténtico preparado para sobrepasar casi cualquier accidente del terreno. Inspirado en 4 diferentes concept cars y lo suficientemente fiel a sus orígenes como para no desagradar a los más puristas, este Jeep presenta un renovado chasis, en el que destaca su diseño exterior con leves retoques -pero manteniendo las líneas originales de su antecesor- y un interior de mayor calidad, así como un amplio equipamiento de seguridad y confort -aunque no busca conseguir el nivel alcanzado por los actuales SUV -. De esta forma la marca americana cumple con sus objetivos iniciales de incremento de aptitudes todoterreno, superior refinamiento en carretera y mayores niveles de potencia y seguridad. Cabe destacar que el Wrangler ha sido diseñado y construido para mejorar todas sus aptitudes off-road, innovaciones visibles tanto en el sistema activo ASBS (Active Sway Bar System) que desconecta la barra estabilizadora delantera para permitir un mayor desplazamiento de las ruedas en conducción extrema, así como en el ESP , también incluido de serie. Pero no nos engañemos, no se trata de un coche para uso diario, aunque el habítaculo, en busca de una mayor comodidad, es mucho más amplio que antiguos modelos. p>Una de las novedades que presenta es el techo duro modular Freedom Top , el cual, está formado por tres paneles: delantero izquierdo y derecho, y trasero. Una configuración que ofrece muy diversas posibilidades de conducción a cielo abierto. El mecanismo de apertura de los paneles delanteros es muy sencillo y puede realizarlo rápidamente una sola persona. El Jeep Wrangler se presenta en 2 puertas (cuyas medidas son 4.223 mm de longitud, 1.873 mm de altura y 1.800-1.840 de altura) y en 4 puertas - Wrangler Unlimited - , como novedad (con medidas 4.751, 1.877 y 1.800/1.840 mm de largo, ancho y alto respectivamente) con dos motorizaciones: una de gasolina 3.8 V6 , sólo existente para la versión 2 puertas, que genera una potencia estimada de 200 cv -conjuntado de serie con un cambio manual de 6 velocidades y opcionalmente, con uno automático de 4 relaciones - y otro 2.8 CRD turbodiesel common-rail , que desarrolla una potencia máxima de 177 cv disponible tanto con cambio manual de 6 velocidades como automático de 5 marchas . La versiones disponibles en el mercado español serán: Sport , Sahara y Rubicon (no disponible para el 4 puertas) que se distinguen en motorización y en ciertos extras como los diferenciales autoblocantes delantero y trasero.
